Growing up in a family with very strong design & architecture background, Kafin Noeman has shown his interest in architecture since his early age. In 2009, he got accepted in architecture program at Universitas Indonesia, but he then decided to continue his higher education in Institut Teknologi Bandung. During his university years in Bandung, he was also enrolled in several design and architecture classes. He now works as a design strategist in a Jakarta-based design consultant.
Noeman has always been fascinated with "pattern". On top of the patterns often seen in most of his works, he also like to depict moments to punctuate human drama. Such moments exists to clarify our existence as humans, and to find poetic meanings in everyday life. With a subtle-minimalist approach, he investigates the dynamics of architecture, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what architecture means to us. Furthermore, Noeman works show the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimalist art. The work is aloof and systematic, while making use of cool and neutral imagery. He tries to establish a link between the architectural reality and what is imagined by its conceiver. These works focus on concrete questions that determine our existence.
In August 2014, one of his works received an Honorable Mention from IPPAWARDS (iPhone Photography Awards) in architecture category, and this work was exhibited in a Jakarta Photography Exhibition on the following year.
